This National Guard position is for a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST, Position Description Number T5409000 and is part of the ND JOINT STAFF, National Guard.
As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will collect, assemble, prepare and disseminate information concerning the various activities of the North Dakota National Guard (NDNG).
Major Duties, this is not an all-inclusive list: Researches unit lineage and honors. Responds to requests for historical information from other state and federal agencies as well as the general public. Collects and organizes NDNG historical documents from the Persian Gulf War. Prepares and disseminates news releases and feature articles to the media for print. Develops semi-technical written materials to educate a specific audience on the nature and purpose of the NDNG's programs, policies and practices.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

QualificationsQUALITY OF EXPERIENCE
Length of time is not of itself qualifying. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must meet on of the following:
:A) Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B or J.D if related to Public Affairs.
B) 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least a GS 7, which includes; 1) knowledge of writing, communication principles, methods and techniques that relate to public affairs; 2) applying and adapting knowledge of strictly controlled situations of an agency; 3) writing articles on routine events of non-controversial subjects; 4) responding timely and appropriately to requests for information concerning agency programs and services; 5) ability to research, archive, and analyze historical data from various sources.
You must also possess the experience, training or education to support your claim for the competency statements listed within the assessment questionnaire. Refer to "How you will be Evaluated" section of this announcement.
