Duties

Help

Vacancy exists for an Employee Occupational Health provider located at the William Middleton VA Hospital, Madison, WI. Employee is responsible for performing employee health evaluations and examinations which may include but not limited to pre-placement examinations, medical clearance for Disaster Response team members, fitness for duty examinations and evaluating and treating employees with medical injuries. Provider orders and interprets labs, diagnostic studies and medical consults. Incumbent ensures programs and policies are in place to protect the health and well-being of employees, volunteers, and that programs are in compliance with applicable laws, regulatory agency requirements and VA Policy. The Employee Health Provider with develop and maintain written policies for employee health.

Additional clinical duties may be required in support of our outpatient clinics.


Work Schedule: Monday-Friday day shift, may include some evenings, weekends and holidays

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/30/2019.
Basic Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Physical requirements outlined below.

Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.

Physical Requirements: Walking, bending, stooping, and some lifting in the direct care of patients. There may also be extended periods of sitting.

Annual leave shall accrue for full-time physicians at the rate of 26 days per leave year (1 day per pay period).
