Duties

Help

As an Instructor of English, you will:

  • Be required to perform the duties of a professor of English, in particular teaching classes in composition, technical and professional writing, and literature.
  • Be responsible for the development and conduct of educational courses and programs, research, instruction and academic counseling of Midshipmen and assuming a share of departmental and other academic responsibilities.

Ideal Candidate: The candidate must be a highly motivated and experienced professional possessing a Doctorate degree in English and experience teaching freshman-level composition courses, as well as 200-level literature courses. Must also possess integrity, stamina, and ingenuity, and be capable of adjusting to various work environments, physical demands, and schedules.

Qualifications

To be qualified for this position, you must meet the education requirements and have experience teaching college level classes in the required field of study.

  • To qualify for an Instructor of English you must possess a minimum of one academic year teaching composition and literature courses at a college/University.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience teaching technical and professional writing.
  • Experience teaching college level composition with basic or remedial components.

Education

The educational requirement for this Instructor of English you must have a Master’s (preferably a doctorate) degree in English. Your application package must include transcripts to support that you have met this requirement.
