Duties

Help
  • You will serve as an Assistant Information Systems Security Manager (A-ISSM) for Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD).
  • You will be responsible for supporting the Command Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) in the implementation and administration of the Cybersecurity Program across the Division, to include the detachments.
  • You will be responsible for the supporting the execution of the Cybersecurity Program and IT information assurance issues.
  • You will conduct preliminary cyber incident/spillage investigations and the associated reporting for IT systems and networks.
  • You will conduct digital forensic examination and analysis.
  • You will analyze business and technical requirements of components, systems, and/or networks to evaluate risk and make recommendations regarding security compliance.
  • You will evaluate IA security hardware and software.
  • You will oversee compliance and reporting for the Command's Vulnerability Management Program.
  • You will conduct system security evaluations, lab audits, and reviews.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 72 Cyber Security Management level Master within 6 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-04 (GS 11-12 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector monitoring and evaluating systems compliance with IT security requirements and providing advice in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems to minimize security threats and vulnerabilities.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled.

THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. This announcement uses the OPM Federal Wide direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13/14.

The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13, Step 10: currently $128,920.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
