Duties

Help

  • Drafting, reviewing, and analyzing regulatory and policy documents, including notice of proposed rulemaking, final rules, and final rule notices; utilizing expert knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, programs and operations affecting multiple offices, other internal components, and external stakeholders;
  • Serving as a resource for Directorates and Program Offices in the research, development and clearance of policy and regulations;
  • Delivering completed regulatory and policy documents and fully prepared strategies, reports, and briefing materials;
  • Assisting management with procedural steps involved with the regulatory rule making process and policy development; and
  • Refining existing techniques to develop new approaches to the analysis of regulatory and public policy issues, utilizing knowledge in conducting probing, innovative analysis involving complex variables that impact significantly on the effective development, interpretation, or implementation of regulations and public policies

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the federal service, performing duties such as:

  • Applying a comprehensive knowledge of and understanding of how to implement policies, directives, and regulations;
  • Collecting information to determine the validity and application of data; analyzing information and making reasonable inferences or drawing well-supported conclusions in support of complex policy initiatives;
  • Generating and developing new goals and objectives, new or modified approaches, and work plans in the development of new policy strategies and initiatives; and
  • Presenting recommendations with the intent of convincing management to accept a policy position or work product
