    NIOSH is a complex, geographically disbursed, constantly evolving and high profile Institute (CIO), the work of which regularly and significantly affects the occupational safety and health of workers nationally and internationally. The organizational structure, mission, scope and geographical disbursement of this Institute results in a CIO which functions more closely akin to a small agency than a typical CDC CIO.

    Responsibilities

    • As a Health Physicist you will:
    • Provide comprehensive radiation exposure analyses to a large, identified and targeted population of exposed workers.
    • Conduct technical evaluations to assess the measured radiation exposure for individual and groups of nuclear workers.
    • Develop innovative radiation dose reconstruction techniques independently.
    • Consult with Other Physical Science Professionals and mentoring for lower level health physics staff (junior or entry level health physicist).
    • Prepare written and oral technical reports regarding radiation exposure of nuclear weapons workers.

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
