    The Animal Disease Research Unit in Pullman, Washington, is seeking a permanent, full time, Supervisory Research Microbiologist/Veterinary Medical Officer. The mission of the ADRU is to perform basic and applied research concerning persistent infectious diseases of domestic animals (cattle, sheep, goats, and horses).

    • As the Research Leader the incumbent is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the creativity and productivity of ADRU; hiring personnel and managing the human, fiscal, and physical resources assigned to ADRU.
    • Provides technical consultation, both internal and external to ARS; and ensuring the proper interpretation and reporting of scientific research results and information.
    • Conducts and directs research to elucidate the pathogenesis of infectious diseases of livestock with the intent of providing methods for diagnosis and control.
    • As Research Leader, the incumbent oversees the animal care and use relationships with Washington State University and the University of Idaho.
    • Serves as Unit fund holder.
