    This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Government Publishing Office in Washington , District of Columbia .

    The selectee will work shift 1 Monday - Friday and a tour of duty 08:30 am to 5:00 pm.

    Responsibilities

    As a Deputy Inspector General, your typical work assignments may include the following:


    The work of this position requires professional knowledge and experience in directing audits, inspections and evaluations, and criminal and general investigations; knowledge of internal and government auditing principles and methodologies; and broad knowledge of legislation and regulations relating to GPO's programs in order to serve as Deputy IG. Finally, it requires excellent written and oral communication skills in order to represent the Inspector General effectively in dealing with high level officials on GPO matters. Assists and collaborates with the Inspector General with overall responsibility for the audit, inspection/program analysis functions and, as directed, over the investigative functions relevant to activities and operations of the GPO. Assists and advises the Inspector General in publishing guidance for use by GPO managers regarding their responsibility for ensuring the avoidance of fraud, waste, and abuse in the operation of their operations. Assists and advises the Inspector General in reporting to the GPO and Congress concerning fraud, abuse, and waste and contract administration. Assists the Inspector General in performing administrative, technical, and professional legal supervision of the staff, serving as the direct-line supervisor to the Assistant Inspector General for Audits, Assistant Inspector General for Inspections/Program Analysis, and the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations and as directed the OIG Legal Counsel.
