Summary

About the Position:
Plans, assigns, and supervises work to be accomplished by subordinates. Serves as a subject matter expert and field manager to integrate work processes and products, obtains resources, and serves as liaison for the Branch Chief.

This position will be located in St. Louis, MO and will allow for situational telework only. This position is NOT eligible for Full-time telework.

Duties

Help
  • Plans, organizes, and evaluates archaeological and archival and/or collections management requirements.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Reviews employee progress and productivity and ensures timely completion of work assignments to established standards.
  • Reviews scientific literature regularly and consults with experts in the above-mentioned fields to obtain guidance, learn new or improved methods, and to keep up with the latest developments.
  • Participates to establish and maintain standards for archaeological and archival work performed.
  • Provides technical direction, and implements assigned portion of the branch program technical services.
  • Maintain standards for the evaluation, protection, and preservation of federal archaeological collections and associated records.
  • Coordinates project goals, methods, preparation, presentation and communication of work-related information to the supervisor.

  • This position requires you to possess or obtain Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level III certification in Facilities Engineering within 24 months of entrance on duty.

Minimum Qualifications GS-13:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes at least four out the seven experience statements listed below: (1). Managing the curation of varied collections in accordance with 36 CFR Part 79 and/or the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA); (2) Writing or coordinating curation needs or archival assessments, NAPGRA compliance documentation, or archaeological compliance documentation; (3) Managing archaeological programs in accordance with federal laws including the National Historic Preservation Act and/or the Archaeological Resources Protection Act; (4) Managing archival programs and/or projects in accordance with the accepted national standards; (5) Assisting in development of funding requests or justifications at the project and/or program level; (6) Building relationships both internal and external to the organization; (7) Leading and/or directing technical teams. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
