Duties

Help

  • Identifies potential partners and supporters for agency projects and initiatives; researches foundations, corporations, federal and state agencies, and other organizations that may serve as partners with the NEH in advancing strategic initiatives or special projects.
  • Works with the Office of Congressional Affairs in developing policies and strategies for the NEH and in reaching out to Congress.
  • Interprets the federal regulatory processes and the policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Monitors, analyzes , and reports on congressional interests, actions, and decisions of importance to the NEH.
  • Prepares agency officials for interactions with members of Congress, other federal agencies, and external partners.
  • Reports on congressional interests, actions, and decisions of importance to the agency.
  • Provides legislative affairs assistance to the senior agency leadership and workforce in response to congressional interests.
  • Manages relationships with other federal agencies, state and local governments, international partners, non-profit organizations, private sector entities, and the general public.
  • Develops, oversees, and evaluates legislative and administrative strategies in support of NEH's mission.
  • Conducts research concerning the agency's previous support for various projects in the humanities, funding trends in the humanities, practices of other federal agencies in devising partnerships, and coordinates projects with private and public sector partners.

Qualifications

At the GS- 14 level Qualified candidates must possess:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level or equivalent experience.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: managing relationships with Congress, federal agencies, state and local governments, international partners, non-profit organizations, private sector organizations and establishing partnerships in support of Humanities projects and initiatives; serving as a liaison or advisor to senior agency officials on intergovernmental matters; monitoring analyzing, and reporting on congressional interest, actions and decisions of importance to the agency; developing program policies, and recommending program changes to senior management.

Term Appointments (Regulatory Reference: 5CFR 316 Subpart C)
This Term Appointment is for 13-months and may be extended up to 4 years total.

1. If you are an eligible Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) applicant you may apply for special selection over other candidates for this position. To be well-qualified and exercise selection priority for this vacancy, displaced Federal employees must be rated at 85 or above on the rating criteria for this position.
