Duties

Help
  • You will manage an organizations' website and social media presence including the scheduling and positing of articles, photos, videos, and informational updates.
  • You will develop written materials which transmit information concerning the nature and purpose of the organization's programs.
  • You will plan and implement community outreach initiatives to promote understanding of the command's public affairs program.
  • You will coordinate events (e.g., tours, media activities) to represent an installation and command personnel in civil or public affairs and community relations.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Develop communication campaigns for release to web contents, audio, video, and social media; 2) Assist in the edits of release of videos, photographs and or feature stories to the media. and 3) Advise personnel on social media program.

Education

In Lieu of Specialized Experience the following Education can be substitute to meet the Minimum Qualifications: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related, or a combination of graduate education AND specialized experience equivalent to 100% of the total requirement.

Additional information

A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 10.64% will be added to the stated salary. COLA is subject to change at any time.

This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, you may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions.

Eligible DoD career or career conditional employees shall be granted statutory return rights to their former position for a period of 5 years if continuously employed in a foreign or non-foreign area provided by Executive Order 10895 and DoDI 1400.25, v 1230.

Recruitment incentives may be authorized to eligible new hires.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

Physical Demands: Work is usually performed sitting at a desk, in news conferences, briefings, meetings, etc; or riding in an automobile or public transportation. There may be occasional brief visits to industrial or construction sites, etc; however, no special physical demands are involved in performing other work.

Work Environment: The work environment may involve minor everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of office settings or commercial vehicles, such as planes, trains, buses or automobiles. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. Working occasionally takes place outside in all weather for ceremonies, events, programs, and so on. Also, due to the nature of public affairs, working late into evening, overnight, or on weekends occasionally.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
