    Individual will use contemporary metadata schemes to organize and provide access to the library's institutionally digitized collections. Coordinates technical support for the CARL Digital Library with CONTENTdm; coordinates training and documentation for CARL Digital Library; recommends metadata standards; ensures compatibility of CONTENTdm metadata with MARC format and LC Subject Headings; integrates CARL Digital Library holdings into OCLC WorldCat, MERLN and CARL's Integrated Library System.

    As a Librarian you will:

    • Integrate digital library holdings into online cataloging systems such as the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) WorldCat and HORIZON ILS.
    • Edit required CONTENTdm metadata to uploaded archive and post-production files according to policy.
    • Harvest records using the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) for inclusion in the online catalog.
    • Utilize editing software, such as MarcEdit and Xslt, to modify digital library records.
    • Coordinate digital library training for staff education requirements.
    • Monitor scanned objects to verify digital library technical requirements are met.
    • Apply contemporary metadata schemes to organize digitized library collections.
    • Ensure compatibility of metadata with established formats and subject headings.
    • Demonstrate digital library populating techniques to consortium members or contractors.
    • Assist patrons with locating information in the library.
    • Respond to patron inquiries and requirements regarding the use of electronic library resources.
    • Assist with research project requests from library patrons.
    • Troubleshoot patron access/use of digital library items.
    • Coordinate technical support for the digital library with CONTENTdm to ensure digital library availability.
    • Troubleshoot issues with computers, printers, and copiers for staff and patron usage.
    • Resolve CONTENTdm upgrade issues to ensure digital library availability.
