This is a permanent seasonal position that is at least 36 weeks per year, but not more than 50 weeks per year in duration. You will be placed in non-pay status at the end of each season and recalled to duty at the start of the following season.
-Directs and determines work specific assignments for three wage grade 5 personnel within a habitat management team structure.
-Leads and works with team to control destructive, depredating, and predatory animals such as feral pigs, cattle, sheep, goats, cats, dogs and mongoose by shooting, snaring, or trapping.
-Maintains records of animals caught or killed including sex, approximate age, and weight.
- Leads and works with the team to maintain and repair fences and other specialized structures to contain or exclude cattle and feral pigs from refuge property.
-Monitors contractors, cooperators, and permittees engaged in fence construction project.
-Leads and works with teams to controls alien plants through use of herbicides, manual, and mechanical removal.
-Sprays non-restricted herbicides using a backpack sprayer or power sprayer mounted on an ATV or in the bed of a pick-up.
-Assists the Maintenance Mechanic and leads the crew with task for the construction, repair and maintenance of refuge buildings, water catchment facilities, simple plumbing systems, sign, and equipment.
-Participates in biological census work including feral ungulate and vegetation surveys and forest bird inventory.

Qualifications
By the closing date of this announcement, you must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Handbook X118C, Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupation.
Although no specific amount of experience, education or training is required, applicants must meet a minimum level of ability in relation to the position and the Assessment Questionnaire in order to be rated qualified for consideration.
