Duties

Help
  • Manages the DoD OIG travel and Defense Travel System (DTS) program as the Lead Defense Travel Administrator; provides guidance to users; and works with the Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO) to resolve system issues.
  • Monitors and administers travel fund allocations for the DoD OIG identifying funding shortfalls, overages and other issues and resolves; maintains and assign lines of accounting.
  • Manages the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) Program.
  • Provides technical written interpretations of the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR) and guidance on travel entitlements.
  • Reviews requests and vouchers and provides guidance to DoD OIG staff and management.
  • Reviews and evaluates changes affecting travel and advises on impact of the revisions.
  • Reviews accounting data related to travel or other areas to clear unliquidated obligations balances (ULO), unmatched disbursements (UMD), and DTS interface errors in the accounting system.
  • Prepares user instructions and presents briefings/training sessions on DTS and/or related topics. Assists in the preparation of travel policies and procedures.
  • Provides reports and works with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) to resolve issues.

  • Position has been designated as Noncritical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
  • If you have not previously completed a probationary period with the Federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level in the Federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as: managing the Government Travel Charge Card Program; providing travel guidance and instructions as the Lead Defense Travel Administrator; interpreting the Joint Travel Regulation and other travel policies; tracking and analysis of financial and accounting data; monitoring accounts and balances; and processing travel requests and vouchers.Note: This position requires DoD Financial Management Certification Level II. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain the DoD Financial Management Certification Level II within a maximum of two years after initial entry into the certification program.
