Duties

Help
  • Accomplishes the clerical and administrative support functions of the Business Process Team and Technical Services Division.
  • Develops and implements procedures pertaining to files, data management, and other clerical and administrative support activities.
  • Develops internal controls and administrative procedures to meet office needs.
  • Uses a computer to perform a wide range of word processing functions and to prepare analytical reports.
  • Types a variety of narrative and tabular material (correspondence, public notices, reports, and technical papers) from longhand or previous drafts.
  • Assists with planning, coordinating, and accomplishing a variety of program support tasks.
  • Assists with the preparation and analysis of the fiscal year operating budget for the area assigned to include salaries, travel, training, supplies and materials, plant, and all related costs both direct and indirect.
  • Provides rudimentary analysis of financial operating programs and studies a variety of items such as financial management, cost histories, and obligation and expenditure trends
  • Performs timekeeping and related duties using an automated reporting system which is linked to a financial management system.
  • Processes travel orders for office staff personnel including the research of travel modes and accommodations, cost analysis, coordination of travel arrangements, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Provides expertise for procurement of goods, supplies, and services.
  • Prepares purchase documents for a wide variety of retail, commercial, and technical items.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes includes recordkeeping visitors, meetings, vacations, inspections, and events; compiling and maintaining information and statistical data to prepare various recurring and non-recurring reports on operational and administrative matters. Coordinating travel arrangements with appropriate district elements and resolving discrepancies. Project and estimate fiscal year allocations of commitments and obligations, monitoring and maintaining ongoing overview of the office's financial situation using automated financial management system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????05).
