Duties

Help
  • Greets and accounts for visitors/applicants in and out of the MEPS; muster applicants for processing and enlistment ceremonies, administer pre-oath briefings, also brief applicants on MEPS procedures.
  • Manage Applicant Processing lists that record applicant receipt of breakfast, lunch, dinner and lodging; providing identification and workload tags for applicants each day.
  • Questions applicants to obtain and/or verify complete data required for final data processing of forms and records for entry into the military service.
  • Gathers information, not previously disclosed, which would bear on moral or physical suitability for enlistment.
  • Fingerprints applicants using automated systems, ensuring fingerprints are classifiable (acceptable).
  • Reconciles fingerprint transaction history reports ensuring acceptance of fingerprint records at OPM/FBI.
  • Verifies applicants' Emergency Data Records. Notes and corrects any discrepancies when differences occur.
  • Screens applicants' records to ascertain that all necessary documents are present according to the requirements of each military service.
  • Collates, reproduces, assembles, and distributes applicant enlistment record documents to appropriate organizations.
  • Ensure timely release of and accountability for processing records to the medical section, the services and external agencies for review.
  • Transfers records to accommodate applicant movement within the Command and execute/monitor applicant sponsorship to ensure data security. Receives and processes requests for documents.
  • Assembles enlistment documents, in accordance with specific service requirements. Performs Quality Review/quality control of applicant records, packets and forms.
  • Files incoming material in accordance with an established filing system.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Providing administrative support, in-processing and/or screening applicants, questioning applicants, reviewing documents, maintaining records, and/or data entry.This type of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.

This position requires a qualified typist defined as the ability to type 40 words per minute (wpm).This position requires to possess the experience utilizing office automation software, practices, and procedures.
