Duties

Help
  • - Serve as statistician supporting the independent, continuous and comprehensive evaluation planning and analysis of assigned oversight Army programs.
  • - Provide expertise in the areas of design of experiments and statistical analysis as a member of Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) system teams.
  • - Use statistical software packages to generate test matrices based on design of experiments principals and to analyze test data.
  • - Brief their design of experiments (DOE) and analysis inputs up the Chain of Command and to the Director, Operational Test and Evaluation and Director, Defense Test and Evaluation.
  • - Conduct technical reviews, briefing, and support of the development of integrated system evaluation strategies/plans/reports.

  • This position requires you to possess, obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • This position requires you to travel from the duty station 15% of the time.
  • Must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • This is an Acquisition Position and requires Level III certification in Acquisition Career Field Test and Evaluation within 24 months of entrance on duty.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Utilizing design of experiments principles and statistical software to create test designs for assigned programs, 2) Analyzing data post-test execution using statistical software, AND 3) Assisting in compiling materials and data for briefings to senior leadership

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, no substitution of experience is allowed.

Education

***In addition to meeting the specialized experience, you must also meet the minimum/basic education requirement for this position.

Basic Education Requirement for Mathematical Statistician 1529:

Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.

OR

Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
