Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Archives Technician, you will:

  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set, adjust short-term priorities, perform quality assurance by actively monitoring phone calls and prepare weekly and quarterly work schedules.
  • Inform higher level supervisor of anticipated vacancies, increases in workload, or other circumstances requiring replacement or additional staff.
  • Prepare, issue, and monitor routine internal instructions and procedures.
  • Conduct staff meetings to convey and discuss suggestions, changes and new policies or procedures, which affect unit operations. Provide information generated by these meetings to higher level management.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.   • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience for the GS-08 grade level: Specialized experience at this level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-07 grade level, or equivalent, that is typically in or related to the position and which equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience:

  • Communicating professionally, both orally and in writing, with peers, management and customers; AND
  • Researching and examining data to gather information to prepare reports; AND
  • Managing multiple priorities. (Examples of such assignments may include responding to customer inquiries, reviewing reports, recognizing errors, and reconciling problems.)
Specialized Experience for the GS-07 grade level: Specialized experience at this level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-06 grade level, or equivalent, that is typically in or related to the position and which equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience:
  • Providing customer service and technical assistance to internal and external customers; AND
  • Reviewing files or documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines.
