Duties

Help

As an Archives Technician, you will:

  • Perform support work for the accession, allocation, arrangement, storage, maintenance, and servicing of records.
  • Perform shipment review, staging, and shelving of all incoming records following agency standards.
  • Complete detailed review of records being processed into the facility. Obtain pertinent information from these records to complete data entry in the Military Personnel Records registry housed in the Archives and Records Centers Information System (ARCIS).
  • Coordinate with multiple offices within the facility to collect reconstructed, newly accessioned, and misplaced military personnel records, to create registry entries and appropriately file all records according to standard records center procedures.
  • Assist the Archival unit in review and disposition of non-record material used to reconstruct military service histories.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Physical Requirement: The first part of the interview process for this position requires candidates to pass a physical abilities test designed to measure candidates' ability to perform the physical requirements of the job. The test requires carrying up to 50-pound boxes like those found on the job. It also requires bending, squatting, and walking to reach the boxes in addition to climbing and balancing on a pulpit ladder up to 14 feet high.

For the GS-04, you must have one year of general experience which includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

2 years of education above high school.

Combination of general experience and education.
