Duties

Help
  • You will calibrate and repair direct and indirect reading temperature instruments and temperature actuated switching devices to include heat stress monitors, liquid in glass thermometers.
  • You will calibrate and repair bimetallic thermometers, distant reading thermometers, recording temperature device, thermocouples, resistance thermometers, temperature switches, temperature controllers using temperature units and conversions.
  • You will document calibrations, repairs, hours and parts on internal tracking system.
  • You will provide technical support to programs including, but not limited to, technical support services, logistics, information technology, software, test and evaluation.
  • You will maintain temperature calibration standards and equipment: temperature baths, humidity sensors, portable resistance thermometer bridge, dew point and frost point indicators.
  • You will maintain temperature calibration standards and equipment: resistance box, thermocouple simulator, resistance thermometer, digital thermometer, and digital multimeters.
  • You will determine the most cost effective, time, materials needed, safety, and performance methods.
  • You may be subject to regular reviews/audits by the Measurement Science and Engineering Department's Quality Assurance personnel to ensure adherence to established procedures and/or processes. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-02 (GS-08 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing engineering support for temperature test instrumentation and temperature actuated switching devices, calibrating and repairing, documenting results, and using Instrument Calibration Procedures (ICPs).

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
