Duties

Help
  • Serve as Transportation Assistant assisting higher level specialist in functions involving transportation and related services for the organization.
  • Determine when military guards, armed surveillance, special highway permits or a signature service for classified material is required.
  • Proofread completed work for accuracy to ensure correspondence has correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Serve as the Container Control Officer (CCO) with responsibility for the management, shipping, receiving, and tracking of 20 and 40 foot containers.

  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968, which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a DA Form 7281-R (Command Oriented Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA/E) Security Screening and Evaluation Record) per Army Regulation (AR) 190-11.
  • This position requires the incumbent to meet the requirements of AMC-R 350-4, Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working in Ammunition Operations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes serving as a Transportation Assistant responsible for effecting shipments of all commodities to include hazardous materials, dangerous articles and special security risk materials of all sizes and weights as well as major or urgent freight; utilize containers to support the shipping of munitions/missile shipments by highway, rail and vessel; selects appropriate carrier, mode of transportation and arranges for the pickup and delivery In Accordance With (IAW) State, Federal and Department of Defense (DOD) regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
