Duties

Help
  • Perform duties as outlined in a detailed training program.
  • Perform duties that are associated with human resources that is composed of clerical, trades, and general schedules positions.
  • Supervisor or designated employee will instruct on what to do, methods to use, what to look for, and what to bring to their attention.
  • Rotations between Employee Relations, Staffing, or other office of responsibility within the general career field may be required.
  • Supervisor or designated employee will review work upon completion ensuring directions were followed and results are complete and accurate.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is primarily sedentary. May require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items such as paper or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in a typical office setting, requiring the use of normal safety precautions necessary for an office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • You must be a student accepted or currently enrolled in a qualifying, accredited college or university with at least a half-time course load as defined by the education institution
  • Must sign a Participant Agreement
  • Pursuing a Baccalaureate Degree (Junior/Senior only), Graduate or Professional Degree with good academic standing (no less than 2.95 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale)
  • Must be eligible to work under U.S. immigration laws
  • Non-citizens may be eligible for employment if Permitted by the DoD Appropriation Act
  • Must meet suitability requirements for federal positions.

Qualifications

PLEASE NOTE: This position may be filled at the GS-03, GS-04, or GS-05 grade level depending on applicant qualifications and organizational requirements. The individual selected for this position may be considered for promotion to a higher grade without further competition upon meeting all legal and regulatory/program requirements. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.

QUALIFICATIONS: In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions - Pathways Internship Programs, and Air Force Qualification Standard for Schedule D, Pathways Student Position.

To qualify for GS-03: Applicant must have completed 1 academic year of post-high school study.

To qualify for GS-04: Applicant must have completed 2 academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree in a related field of study.

To qualify for GS-05: Applicant must have completed a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree or completed 4 academic years of pre-professional study.

Conversion

Interns may be non-competitively converted to a term, career-conditional or career appointment within 120 days following successful completion of all of their educational and work experience requirements in accordance with 5 CFR 362.204.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

Hill Air Force Base provides worldwide engineering and logistics management for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt II, and the Minuteman III ICBM, and performs depot maintenance of the F-16, A-10, and C-130 Hercules aircraft. The base is located between Ogden and Salt Lake City. The area is known for year round activities, including skiing, hiking, boating, extreme sports, fishing and hunting, with four distinct seasons, low humidity and moderate snow fall in the valley.

This is a Pathways Student Internship opportunity managed by the Force Renewal Program and centrally funded by the Air Force's Central Salary Account (CSA). The Internship offers valuable work experience directly related to your academic field of study. This is your opportunity to begin a successful Federal civilian career with the United States Air Force. As an Intern, you will be given the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to pursue a successful career with the US Air Force and upon completing your degree and meeting conversion eligibility requirements, be eligible for placement in a permanent position. However, it is important to remember that eligibility for conversion does not guarantee you will be offered a permanent position. The length of Internship is normally two years or when you complete your academic program and degree requirements.

This internship is to provide a learning opportunity for a student enrolled in a field of study relating to their career path, to enhance their future goals and improve their knowledge with work experience in a working environment.

The entire period served under the Internship Program counts as the participant's trial period.

Interns may work part-time or full-time schedules.

Non-citizens may be eligible for employment if permitted by the DoD Appropriation Act.

NOTE: U.S. citizenship is required for a noncompetitive conversion to a permanent or term appointment with the Department of the Air Force.
