Duties

Help
  • Provides customer services to District Operations Project Managers in the form of authoritative technical guidance and advice for natural resources, park management, flood control, navigation and operational problems.
  • Exercises professional competence in interpreting and converting broad statutory and policy objectives into specific plans and programs.
  • Provides direction, coordination, policy application, long-range planning and evaluation of the recreation and natural resource management activities at all operations field projects.
  • Provides direction in management of parks recreation areas, forestry, fish/wildlife, biology, soil conservation and other applied sciences; insect, plant disease, pest control.
  • Provides direction, long-range planning for operational maintenance of facilities, structures, grounds, roads, buildings and utilities.
  • Budget development lead for three FRM business lines.
  • Manages the District's Dive Program, ERGO Program, Volunteer Services Program, Uniform Program, Sign Program, Visitor Assistance Program.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Education Requirements: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing customer service to District Operations Project Managers with technical guidance concerning solutions to a variety of natural resource, park management, flood control, navigation, and operational issues. Interpret and convert board statutory and policy objectives into specific plans and programs for functional operations. Evaluates research findings for application to field activities; monitors resource needs, provides budget and manpower forecasts, and leads budget execution and submission processes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

B. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
