Duties

Help
  • Develops or applies techniques for automating information description, classification, and extraction (e.g. auto-classification and auto-categorization).
  • Builds, revises and enforces auto-classification policies and taxonomies.
  • Searches, collects, and preserves information using automated record keeping tools, systems, and technologies in response to complex requests that include sensitive information and classified materials.
  • Evaluates the design and usability of information to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the OIG information life cycle and the organization, navigation and "find-ability" of information.
  • Analyzes and synthesizes information to provide insights and advice to leaders to support business decisions.
  • Identifies sources and strategy for content capture, identifies issues associated with sharing content across and outside the agency.

Qualifications

GS-12: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-11 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Performs cataloguing by associating metadata with electronic content. Enforces system policies, business rules or schemes so information is identifiable, retrievable and meet organizational compliance requirements. Performs detailed research utilizing broad range of information systems in response to authorized requests for information. Applies classification systems (e.g. lists. Trees, hierarchies, facets, system maps, folksonomy and database schemas) to electronic information.

Performs detailed research utilizing broad range of information systems in response to authorized requests for information. Develops or applies classification systems (e.g. lists. Trees, hierarchies, facets, system maps, folksonomy and database schemas) to electronic information to improve organization and navigation. Collaborates with stakeholders or staff and makes recommendations to requestors to improve search results and expedite processing.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
