Duties

Help

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Long-term care
  • Rehabilitation and skilled care
  • Post-acute care (such as wound care and IV antibiotics)
  • Mental health recovery
  • Hospice/palliative care
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm or 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Some evenings, weekends and/or holidays may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/30/2019.
Basic Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship
  • Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • License: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency: Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • English Language Proficiency
  • Physical Requirements: This position is sedentary in nature.
Preferred Experience: The ideal candidate will have Geriatric medicine expertise and experience, along with an interest in teaching medical residents and students; strong interpersonal communication skills; a commitment to
interdisciplinary teamwork; and engagement in quality improvement. A fellowship in Geriatric medicine is highly desired, but not required.

Annual leave shall accrue for full-time physicians at the rate of 26 days per leave year (1 day per pay period).
