Help

The Supervisory Executive Assistant, located in the Office of Healthcare Inspections (OHI). OHI conducts oversight, monitoring, and evaluation of Veterans Health Administration (VHA) quality improvement programs and the activities of the VA Office of the Medical Inspector.

Selection will stay in current duty station.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-15. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
-Serve as the confidential assistant and advisor to the AIG and DAIGs of Office of Healthcare Inspections (OHI).
-Gather background data and prepare briefing and position papers, speeches, and testimony on a wide range of subjects for the AIG & DAIGs to present at high-level meetings and congressional hearings.
-Serve as the primary representative and liaison for the AIG and DAIGs, and has full authority to act for him or her, in meetings and conferences with senior OIG, VA, congressional, and other government officials.
-Develop and prepare regular reports for management decision-making.
-Prepare OHI input to the OIG Semiannual Report to Congress and various reports to the Council of the Inspector General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE).

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience:  For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: 

- Planned, coordinated, and monitored projects and assignments with competing demands and deadlines; AND
- Researched and interpreted information needed to prepare reports, and to respond to requests for information; AND
- Performed a wide range of time-sensitive projects and prepared reports of the findings.

Specialized experience:  For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: 

-Planned, coordinated, and monitored projects and assignments with competing demands and deadlines; AND
-Researched information needed to prepare reports, and to respond to requests for information; AND
-Demonstrated experience conducting special analysis, recommending solutions, and developing these into action.


In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.

Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- A one year supervisory probationary period may be required.
- Public Trust – Background Investigation will be required. 
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.

- Obtain and use a Government-issued purchase card for business-related travel.
- File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
