    This position is located in Washington, DC.

    The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is an independent office within the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC or Commission) that conducts, supervises, and coordinates audits and investigations of the programs and operations of the SEC.The mission of the OIG is to prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse and to promote integrity, economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the Commission's programs and operations.

    Responsibilities

    • Works as a member of a team or under the tutelage of higher-graded employees, in a developmental capacity, applies professional auditing knowledge, standards, and principles to assess agency programs and operations;
    • Uses knowledge of principles, standards, and practices for performance audits, including knowledge of procurement practices, acquisition of the appropriate type of resources at appropriate cost;
    • Uses technological advancements, including auditing software, database, and spreadsheet applications, to perform and assist in the performance of audits/evaluations;
    • Researches applicable criteria and develops recommendations based on reviews, evaluations, and interpretation of issues such as conflicting priorities and program goals;
    • Works as a member of a team or under the tutelage of higher-graded employees, in a developmental capacity, to provide agency management with findings and recommendations for corrective action;
    • Maintains productive working relationships with key stakeholders, internal and external to the audit organization.
