Duties

Help
  • Analyze users? needs to determine and document software requirements, and design software to meet organizational standards.
  • Code,test and sustain quality, cybersecure software solutions.
  • Apply principles of software process improvement and adhere to organizational procedures for software development activities.
  • Direct, monitor and perform acceptance reviews of software developed by contractor personnel.
  • Prepare and maintain software documentation.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR THE GS-07: In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Performing software application sustainment for existing software capabilities including software modifications, source code changes, testing and documentation updates.

Researching and implementing the latest software web technologies and engineering practices.

Developing and maintaining substantial or complex Java Web and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications using technologies/tools such as JavaScript, HTML5, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), ESRI ArcGIS and GeoServer.

Providing innovative and creative solutions that helped the organization accomplish its mission and move toward its vision.

Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS.

Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.Evaluation of Education: Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Successful completion of 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement.
