Summary

The USPS OIG is seeking a highly qualified applicant to fill our Auditor - Human Resources and Support position in the OA Human Resources and Support directorate located in Bethesda, Maryland. The Human Resources and Support Services Directorate conducts audits of Postal Service Human Resources activities. The successful candidate must be highly motivated and demonstrate experience and skill in auditing or human resources.

The following description of major duties and responsibilities is only intended to give applicants a general overview of the expectations. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs assignments requiring the application of fundamental principles, concepts, techniques, and guidelines in the area of auditing or audit evaluation
  • Participates as a team member and/or leads an audit team
  • Evaluates agency programs and operations for compliance and adherence to regulations and adequacy of internal controls over operations
  • Makes recommendations for corrective actions and writes audit working papers and reports utilizing generally accepted accounting and auditing principles

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

You must meet ALL of the minimum qualifications listed below.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or any other degree that includes 24 semester hours in accounting
  • At least one (1) year of experience conducting program and performance audits for the GS-7 level. Postal Service specialized experience in human resources management can be substituted for one year of audit experience. Additional experience can result in eligibility at higher levels.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced degree in a Business related field
  • Experience with conducting human resources management audits.
  • Professional certification(s), i.e.: CPA, CIA, FSCM, CPIM, CFCM, CPCM, etc.
  • Experience in TeamMate

The USPS OIG uses a Pay Banding system, which is equivalent to the Federal GS scale. Grade and salary determinations will be made based upon a candidate's education and professional experience.

This position is being advertised at the Journey Band level, equivalent to a GS-7 - GS-12. The salary range for this position is $35,854.00 - $82,680.00. The salary figures do not include locality pay. There is promotion potential to a GS-13 equivalent. Career ladder to GS-13 equivalent at management's discretion.
