The Congressional Budget Office is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analysis to the Congress. The Information Resource Management and Technology Services Unit seeks a self-motivated Computer Systems Engineer with a strong work ethic to oversee CBOs IT (information technology) systems. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Information Officer as part of a 14-person IT shop. The responsibilities include overseeing public and private network backups, associated maintenance, and recurring security patch applications; troubleshooting, analyzing, planning, designing, and testing systems infrastructures; maintaining and supporting a network of computers; administering Microsoft Office 365; and administering data backup and recovery software that supports virtual, physical, and cloud platforms.
Tier Two Background Investigation
Candidates must have a bachelors degree in IT, computer science, or an IT-related field and at least three years of experience administering client- and server-side technologies. They must have experience withand a good working knowledge ofMicrosoft Server, Exchange, Active Directory, and System Center Operations Manager, as well as OS, TCP/IP, Ethernet, Enhanced Routing (OSPF), and virtual private networks (VPNs). They must also be able to resolve help desk requests in their area of expertise and have a broad understanding of IT operations. Experience with Microsoft Office products such as Office 365 is required. The position requires the ability to occasionally lift and carry more than 15 pounds. Candidates must have, or be able to get, a favorably adjudicated Public Trust Investigation, which includes a credit check. A higher-level security clearance may be accepted in place of the Public Trust.
