As the Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Lead, responsible for working closely with our software developers and engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable services that help maintain system availability in a cloud-based infrastructure. Incumbent will be involved in all levels of design, development and delivery of these applications and infrastructure in addition to helping define the ever evolving standards and software solutions in a rapidly developing space. Identifies, investigates and fixes application performance, systemic inadequacies and latent reliability issues; Works with Security/Compliance teams and other Engineering leads to tackle application vulnerabilities and improve risk posture; Identifies failure risk in systems, technology and processes that could compromise the reliability, performance and scalability; Identifies and solves critical problems and prevents them from reoccurring via root cause analysis and automation; improves the development platform, infrastructure, standards, and methods to ensure the goals of scalability and high availability are met. Influences standardization and process refinement within the engineering organization; troubleshoots stack-wide engineering issues related to hardware, software, network, applications and cloud service providers; Enhances the application end to end monitoring capabilities and enables critical KP! dashboards. Reviews technical requirements to determine types of services required and the appropriate contract vehicle, considering impact of acquisition regulations, strategies, policies and processes pertaining to IT project management strategies, and utilize the information obtained to create optimized solutions; Mentors engineers and team members on methodology, standards, monitors and best practices.

The GS-14 salary range starts at $117,191.00 per year.
If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
To qualify, you must have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service as described below:
IT SPECIALIST COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Specialized experience is defined as experience with designing, developing and delivering complex software and IT systems in virtualized cloud environments such Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Azure or Google Cloud Platform. Experience must include performing assignments with DevSecOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (Cl/CD) concepts, terminology and using tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, Chef/Ansible, Jmeter, Selenium, Sonarqube, Netsparker, etc; designing, developing, and maintaining applications and IT systems in Java, Javascript, Spring and Shell scripting, Open Source technology stack and microservices architecture, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment; and configuring, monitoring, trending, network design and high availability with web servers.
