Summary

The Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC ) is established to enable the Military Departments and Services, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), (OSD), and other DoD Components, to introduce new capabilities and effectively experiment with new operational concepts in support of DoD's warfighting missions with the goal of accelerating the delivery of AI enabled capabilities, scaling the Department-wide impact of AI, and synchronizing DoD AI activities to expand Joint Force advantages.

Duties

Help
  • Establishes the strategic direction of the JAIC engagement and communications effort.
  • Guides the development of an engagement and communications relations plan to promote the JAIC?s broader mission.
  • Implements a multi-layered communication channel to ensure message resonance and inculcation ? to include traditional, digital and social media.
  • Develops and coordinates talking points that can be used by the office and Department of Defense senior leadership in a variety of settings.
  • Manages and coordinates select events that ensure maximum return on investment, ranging from all hands and internal organization meetings, to larger scale stakeholder events.
  • Manages JAIC?s relationship academia and industry to inform JAIC AI capability delivery decisions and help DoD entice the best talent from industry academia to support JAIC and DoD goals .
  • Informs policy decisions associated with DoD investment strategies for long-term cultivation of the next generation of AI talent.
  • Liaises with communications staffs from across the Department to ensure messaging alignment and maximum understanding of AI and JAIC.

Qualifications

For the GG-15 position, you must have applicable experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience may have been acquired in any Federal, Military, or Private sector but clearly demonstrates past experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by direct experience in corporate strategy as part of a technology firm, engaging media organizations on artificial intelligence topics and by developing and implementing all phases of a national multi-media communication program and making recommendations to national level groups to achieve the strategic goals of the organization.

  • This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f.
  • If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to the competitive service.
  • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination
  • A three year probationary period is required.
  • This position is subject to completion of 1 year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.
