Duties

Help

As an Instructor in the Department of Physical Education the incumbent will be responsible for teaching Military Movement (applied Gymnastics), Personal Fitness, and a variety of Lifetime Physical Activity courses. Additional duties will include but not be limited to: Serving as a Sport Educator in the Competitive Sports Program; administering a variety of fitness tests to cadets; and performing a summer detail such as Cadet Basic Training.

Position may include working selected weekends, evenings and holidays.

This is a full-time, term appointment in the excepted service, starting on or about 1 June 2019 not to exceed 3 years. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.

Qualification Requirements
: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional coursework that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Applicants will be evaluated on the following factors: 1) Education and academic accomplishment in Physical Education or related field (Master's Degree preferred); 2) Demonstrated ability to perform and teach Gymnastics (minimum 3 years teaching experience preferred); 3) Ability to teach Personal Fitness, and a variety of Lifetime Physical Activities; 4) Ability to plan, organize, and lead competitive sport activities; 5) Ability to lead in a curriculum with responsibility for the academic and physical development of future leaders.

Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and ability in the areas of human movement and gymnastics preferred. Experience as a competitive gymnast is preferred.
