Duties

Help

As a Digital Imaging Technician, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

  • Responsible for pulling and re-filing records to be digitized.
  • Monitors vendors' scanning of various media including: original, loose, textual records, bound volumes varying in size from ledger (1-1/2" x 17") or smaller to larger oversize volumes, drawings, maps, charts, and printed material. Perform ongoing checks to verify that image quality is at an acceptable level.
  • Performs review/validation of documents that are digitally scanned into electronic formats. This involves reviewing all areas of the digital scanning work to include image quality and accuracy of indexed fields. Incumbent ensures that image quality, and index fields are accurate and at the correct quality level identified by NARA's standard operating procedures. Shares quality and accuracy deficiencies with their supervisor to correct any identified issues. Keeps a clean work areas, and ensures that supplies are on hand to perform these duties.
  • Physical Demands: The work is basically sedentary, however, some periods of standing and lifting of materials, supplies, and moderately heavy boxes (may weigh up to 50 pounds) that may be stored up to 16 feet above the floor requiring the usage of ladders will be performed.

Qualifications

GS-06 - Candidates must have had one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position as described above, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.

Examples of specialized experience for this grade level include: pulling, re-filing, monitoring, and quality control of digitized records; monitoring the digital scanning of original, loose, textual records, bound volumes (varying in size from ledger or smaller to larger oversize volumes) drawings, maps, charts, and printed material; completing quality assurance checks and quality review (validation).
