    Summary

    This position is located in the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) Office of Security (SO) and established to perform and lead employees in carrying out FinCEN's Personnel Security program duties to include determining position sensitivity requirements & required background investigations for employees & contractors, initiating & tracking investigations, and determining & approving security information access clearances necessary to carry out employees' responsibilities.

    Responsibilities

    Security Clearance: This position has been designated National Security Level IV, Special Sensitive and requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain eligibility for a Top Secret (TS) clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access. Applicant must meet and continue to adhere to the requirements of a Tier 5 level background investigation. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination. Continued employment with FinCEN is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the Tier 5 level background investigation, the results of which fully meet the FinCEN's special employment criteria. All employees are subject to satisfactory completion of periodic reinvestigation and a continuing life style in conformity with applicable national and FinCEN directives. Any unfavorable information developed during an investigation or other official inquiry may result in termination of employment in accordance with established security policies and procedures. 

    As a Lead Personnel Security Specialist, you will:

    • Lead in developing, recommending, implementing, and evaluating policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures, which may be issued in the form of bureau directives, that govern FinCEN's personnel security program.
    • Monitor and report on the status and progress of work, check on work in progress and review completed work to see that the supervisor's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met.
    • Assure that requests for investigations are processed efficiently, the progress of investigations are tracked, and delays are resolved.
    • Review, evaluate, and adjudicate cases in accordance with U. S. Government personnel security practices, investigative standards, policies, regulations, and requirements for a full and complete background investigation.
