Duties

Help

This position is open in the Los Angeles, CA area. If selected for this position, you will be required to reside in the Los Angeles commuting area, and telework 100% from your residence.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

- Conducts investigations of possible violations of federal alcohol and tobacco law.
- Conducts Certificate of Label Approval (COLA) investigations, investigations of hidden ownership and fraudulent applications, trade practice investigations, investigations of false or misleading advertising of alcoholic beverages and false or fraudulently labeled products, product integrity investigations at multi-site permittees or interrelated entities, and targeted application investigations.
- Participates in investigations with other Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies.
- Serves as an advisor to management and other functions in the Bureau on policy issues and technical matters pertaining to assigned program areas, and offers recommendations concerning long-range plans, goals and objectives.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:  Regularly performing civil or criminal investigations or inspections.

OR

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, OR LL.M., if related.

OR

Combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
 

Specialized experience: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Performing investigative, inspective or compliance-related work that includes analyzing data, discerning relevant facts, drawing conclusions and writing clear, detailed and comprehensive reports to support the conclusions.

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, OR LL.B. or J.D., if related.

OR

Combination of Experience and Education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Public Trust – Background Investigation will be required.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.

- Possess a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license or Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) upon appointment OR within 30days of appointment and maintain a valid license while you occupy the position.
- Undergo an income tax verification.
