The incumbent will serve as Administrative Officer for the Public Safety Communications Research Program, a division of the Communications Technology Laboratory. The incumbent is expected to perform the full range of administrative officer responsibilities. Responsibilities include administering the budget, financial management, human resources activities, and other general administrative activities consistent with programmatic objectives and NIST policies, and providing guidance, advice, and information on these matters to management and other organizations. General administrative activities include, but are not limited to, procurements, assistance awards, bankcard purchasing, NIST Associate processing, travel management, and property management. The incumbent will be expected to perform duties independently with minimal guidance and have the ability to effectively analyze and resolve problems.

Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level (ZA-II for NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience coordinating the administrative functions for an organization to include acquisitions, travel management, property management, space management, budget planning, financial management, and human resources management.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
