    Responsibilities

    The Management Analyst, located in the Office of Investigations (OI), Analysis and Oversight Division (51X), Washington, D.C.  The mission of the VA OIG is to serve veterans and the public by conducting effective oversight of the programs and operations of the VA through independent audits, inspections, reviews, and investigations.

    The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
    -Perform comprehensive studies on a range of functions and missions and use a wide range of specialized methods and techniques to assess the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations.
    -Maintain the daily operation and integrity of OI’s segment of the agency’s case management information system by diligently monitoring and analyzing the accuracy of data submission and effecting changes as required. 
    -Research, identify, evaluate, and recommend the employment of internal and external criminal and administrative information resource systems and databases to facilitate OI investigations.  
    -Maintain the integrity of OI’s training database by providing training, direction, and guidance to system users and office supervisors regarding data entry, search protocols, and information retrieval. 
    -Gather and analyze data and prepare summaries and reports of investigative findings, resource allocations, strategies, policy and other proposals affecting the administration of the OIG, OI, and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) programs and operations.

    Travel Required

    25% or less - 1-5 Nights per month. Travel nationwide under tight deadlines. The incumbent should anticipate frequent walking and standing as a component of this travel.
