Duties

Help
  • Produces multimedia content to support the command information program.
  • Updates Battalion Web sites and Social Media sites.
  • Assists with media relations, outreach and promotional activities in the Battalion area.
  • Coordinates Army participation at local community, center-of-influence (COI), Future Soldier, and other outreach events to promote Army opportunities and provide recruiters face-to-face interaction with the target market.
  • Coordinates assets to support promotional events. Prepares and submits After-Action Reports assessing the success of promotional programs.
  • Writes news and feature articles for internal Battalion and Head Quarters publications, social media and other Army publications/sites.
  • Photographs subjects to support news releases, articles, and social media.
  • Maintains Battalion Web sites and social media sites, ensuring compliance with USAREC and Department of Army standards.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes responding to and overseeing appropriate and accurate release of information to external media markets and publics; writing /reviewing speeches; producing/editing presentations for media release; coordinating outreach to the local community; and use and knowledge of desktop publishing methods. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. [remove LL.B or J.D., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: advertising, communications, public affairs, or a related field.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
