Duties

Help
  • Managing the Fort George G. Meade public website and social media outlets.
  • Planning, designing, and maintaining he overall online presence for the installation.
  • Creating and managing social media accounts on behalf of the installation (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Video Blogs
  • Coordinating and conducting interviews with subject matter experts, writing content, and editing/formatting text from other sources for online or print publications.
  • Using Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, and other graphic software programs to design and produce visuals.
  • Using accepted journalism practices to ensure all electronic outlets contain the most up to date and accurate information in compliance with Army and DoD directives.
  • Using Adobe Go-Live and Dreamweaver web-design software and HTML and Wordpress markup language to edit source code and troubleshooting issues.
  • Designing FLASH plug-ins for online sites and using Adobe Flash or After-Effects.
  • Keeping informed on legislation that affects website content.
  • Providing advice, counsel, or instruction to divisions and offices to increase the efficiency of providing information to the general public using the Internet.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience is defined as establishing and maintaining public websites, professional social media accounts, and other media outlets; maintaining professional contacts and partnerships; and serving as a subject matter expert on all media relations matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:Education in Lieu of Experience: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or an LL.M., if related.Combination of Education and Experience: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 54. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.
