If selected for this position, you will serve as a district Information Technology Specialist responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving Litigation Support and three or more other IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's office (USAO) and mission. The USAO IT environment includes personal computers, a wide area network (hubs, switches, bridges, routers, firewall, and VPNs), operating systems, telecommunications, enterprise voice over the internet protocol, secure mobility solutions, information security, case management systems and automated litigation support solutions. The environment also encompasses a significant number of users within the USAO, many of who may be located in geographically distant branch offices.

This position performs essential Information Technology tasks associated with day-to-day operation of the USAO IT systems. These duties include a wide range of IT technical and customer services support to meet USAO customers' information needs utilizing network hardware, enterprise solutions, and office automation and litigation software capability.

  • IT Technical Litigation Support Services - Plans, creates and coordinates litigation support services IT requirements and needs (including IT trial preparation support, ediscovery production and troubleshooting, Clouds Storage, secure external media management and troubleshooting, Trial laptop preparation and presentations) in response to customer needs.
  • IT Systems/Network and Telecommunications Administration: Maintains district-wide responsibility for testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, maintenance and management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in data, telecommunications, voice and/or video format. Ensures systems availability, functionality, integrity and efficiency.
  • Intranet- Internet - Plans, designs, develops, tests, implements and manages internet, intranet, and extranet LS activities, including technical management of websites.
  • Customer Support - Provides customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training in response to user requirements.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

To be eligible, you must possess one or more years of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level serving as an information technology specialist responsible for technical and analytical assistance which support the information needs of an agency or public sector organization.

Specialized Experience is defined as providing technical and analytical assistance involving Litigation Support and other Information Technology specialty areas. Examples include: maintaining litigation support services and needs throughout an office, maintaining network architecture and infrastructure, resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems, promoting the awareness of security issues throughout an office, and diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
