Duties

Help
  • Serves as a specialist in the field of Information Technology (IT) Security, providing advice and guidance to resolve problems revolving around Center/NASA IT security concerns. The work involves analysis of computer system activity.
  • Develops IT security risk analysis reports and risk mitigation <br>recommendations for systems. Implements systems security policy, guidelines, and procedures for systems that process multiple applications.
  • Implements security controls covering physical security, application and data security, system software security, contingency planning, compliance with personnel clearance procedures, security education and training, and contractor security.
  • Responsible for oversight of classified and unclassified information systems and computers ensuring compliance with applicable DoD, Air Force, and special access program regulatory requirements.
  • Designs, develops, and manages systems that meet current and future business requirements and apply and extend, enhance, or optimize the existing architecture.
  • Develops, interprets, and implements IT Security policies, guidelines and procedures. Develops IT security risk analysis reports and risk mitigation recommendations for systems at the Center.

Qualifications

Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has
equipped the applicant with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the
position described above.

Examples of specialized experience at the GS 12 level include: Experience resolving problems involving
Information Security (IT) concerns. Experience performing analysis of computer system activity. Experience
with IT risk mitigation on computer systems.

This position is announced under Direct Hire authority. A Human Resources Specialist will review your resume to determine if you meet the qualifications and eligibility requirements as listed in 'Requirements'.

CTAP and ICTAP candidates will be assessed using NASA STARS, an automated system that matches the competencies extracted from your resume to the competencies identified by the selecting official for the position.
