    Responsibilities

    This position will be located in one of the following locations: DECATUR, GA, ARLINGTON, VA, BALTIMORE, MD, BEDFORD, MA, HINES, IL, WASHINGTON, DC, DENVER, CO, KANSAS CITY, MO, LOS ANGELES, CA, SALT LAKE CITY, UT, BAY PINES, FL, AUSTIN, TX, DALLAS, TX, OR SEATTLE, WA.

    The Auditor, is located in the Office of Audits and Evals. This position serves as a Senior Auditor, or Auditor in Charge, on an audit team that is responsible for planning and conducting financial and performance audits of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) programs, functions, and operations.  The incumbent serves as a Senior Auditor in one of the headquarters-based or field offices assigned to the Office of Audits, VA Office of Inspector General (OIG).

    The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
    -Prepare and conduct audit surveys and program evaluations, which focus on specific audit objectives. 
    -Develop new lines of inquiry and potential audit areas; ensure that work papers are prepared in accordance with OIG audit procedures and Government Accountability Office (GAO) Yellow Book Standards.
    -Participate with the OIG investigative or inspection staff in joint projects and in investigating and responding to Hotline complaints when expertise is required.
    -Research issues relating to non-concurrence on report findings, or recommendations, and provide recommendations regarding whether such matters should be referred to higher management officials at the headquarters level.
    -Prepare various types of reports, briefings and testimony that cover all major financial and management aspects of VA programs.

    Travel Required

    25% or less - Travel nationwide under tight deadlines. The incumbent should anticipate frequent walking and standing as a component of this travel.
