Duties

Help

As a Personnel Security Specialist you will:

  • As a Personnel Security Specialist you will serve a technical specialist; directly manage day-to-day operation of all NACI and Public Trust processing for NCHS.
  • Oversee the execution of all tasks associated with the NACI and Public Trust Programs for NCHS in accordance with established regulations and executive orders.
  • Review and investigate reports to assure adequacy of coverage.
  • Assure that the interviews are conducted in a tactful and diplomatic manner and that discretion is used due to the very sensitive and personal nature of matters.
  • Serve as the expert for the NCHS personnel security programs.
  • Perform a full range of difficult and/or complex personnel security duties and assignments in processing and adjudicating personnel security investigations involving all employee types.
  • Recommend action on cases involving unusual sensitivity problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your meeting qualifications and time-in-grade requirements, demonstrated ability to perform the higher level duties, the continuing need for the higher level duties, and administrative approval. Promotion to the next grade level is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.
  • Supervisory position: No
  • Time in grade (TIG) must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience adjudicating, reviewing, analyzing and resolving security problems related to employment suitability issues and personnel security clearances.

PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree, OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, OR LL.M., if related.

Have a combination of specialized experience and educational level that meets 100% of Qualification requirements for this position.
