Summary

This position is for the Professor of Life Cycle Logistics Management, providing mission assistance, classroom offerings and on-line resources.
1. Performs as a "thinking partner" and consultant with acquisition customers and students, continuously improving product and service delivery to provide the right knowledge and skills at the point of need through mission assistance, workshops, classroom offerings and on-line resources.
2. Creates content and coordinates with learning asset and technology divisions, which have central responsibility for development of curriculum, to modify assets and delivery methods as needed.
3. Prepares course materials (student and instructor) according to current instructional systems design technology and develops course schedules. Develops and conducts lectures, cases, simulations, workshops and field trips.
4. Develops and analyzes student assessments, and provides student counseling to ensure the highest degree of learning.
5. Develops or contributes to development of online assets that customers can leverage in the absence of direct access to DAU faculty.
6. Participates in professional research to ensure curriculum currency and to enhance the skill set and processes in your field of expertise.
Security: This position requires a Public Trust level security which includes a background investigation.
Qualifications
1. Specialized experience in Life Cycle Logistics directly relating to:
- Experience in management of key logistics support initiatives/efforts, to include Logistics ERP systems, operational sustainment/data management, acquisition logistics, supportability analysis, Life Cycle Cost Estimate formulation, maintenance fielding support concept development, configuration management planning/execution, sustainment support, supportability test design/analysis/execution, and basic production, manufacturing and quality assurance principles, policies, processes and practices used in DoD or industry equivalent.
- Military staff experience: Required to have experience within a military staff organization, preferably at the Director or senior supervisor level.
- Acquisition Program logistics support experience, at the Director or senior supervisor level.
- Field experience in the management and/or support of military equipment.
- Previous work experience with DoD 5000 series documents, and Chapter 4 of the Defense Acquisition Guidebook
- Extensive experience and familiarity with logistics requirements and activities throughout all phases of the acquisition cycle to include Logistics ERP systems. DAWIA level III certification in the LOG career field is highly desired. List any professional certifications such as Certified Professional Logistician (CPL) or APICS/ Supply Chain Council (CPIM,CSCP,CLTD or SCOR).
2. Foundational Learning (Teaching): Ability (or potential) to teach and facilitate learning of adults. This includes: the ability to communicate complex managerial development and technical material to students with different backgrounds and experiences; a proficiency in delivery methods such as guided discussions, short lectures, role plays, problem-based learning and case studies; the ability to incorporate the learner's experience into the learning process along with the ability to motivate learners to participate actively in the learning process; and the ability to organize information, develop the thought process and relevant threads/themes, define objectives, draw conclusions, maintain audience interest, and effectively facilitate student learning. Demonstrated ability to teach at the graduate level is preferred. Typical courses are 1- 2 weeks in duration. Instruction is provided both on campus and off-site, which will require travel (TDY).
3. Performance Learning (Consulting): Ability to consult with DoD clients at various levels of authority from mid-grade to general officers/SES, including but not limited to areas related to DoD weapon systems acquisition logistics, sustainment logistics and IT software sustainment. Includes the ability to enter into an agreement with managers and provide consulting support in the process of diagnosis, goal setting, programmatic problem solving and decision-making, and group or organizational intervention to bring about successful organizational change.
4. Workflow Learning Asset Management: Ability to manage or develop both in-residence and online learning assets/products for the Logistics career field or other DoD Acquisition Workforce members. Demonstrated excellence in curriculum development and knowledge sharing, both for classroom and online applications. Demonstrated, developed or contributed to knowledge management web sites and communities of practice. Demonstrated innovation in development and use of learning assets.

You must have achieved DAWIA Level III certification in Life Cycle Logistics or alternatively, you must have the ability to obtain the required certification for the position within 24 months of appointment.
Initial appointment is made for a period of four years, conditional upon satisfactory completion of a DAU probationary period of one year. Every year, as part of an annual review, consideration is given to extending the appointment; thus service at DAU can be extended indefinitely.
If selected for this position, you MUST be able to begin work within 90 days of acceptance.
