    This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), North East Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Population and Ecosystems Monitoring and Analysis Division (PEMAD) with one vacancy in Woods Hole, MA.

    Responsibilities

    As a Supervisory Fish Biologist, you will perform the following duties:

    • Serve as the Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) Ecosystem Surveys Branch Chief to oversee design, planning, and execution of fishery research including bottom trawl surveys, shellfish surveys, dredge and video technology, hydro acoustic operations, and development of advanced sampling technologies, to support fishery and ecosystem conservation and management under Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act and other applicable laws (E.g., Marine Mammal Protection Act, Endangered Species Act, etc.) 
    • Execute supervisory responsibilities including evaluating and assigning work, delegating, planning, providing direction, setting and adjusting short and long-term priorities, preparing schedules, finding ways to improve production or increase quality of work, evaluation of work performance of subordinates, providing technical oversight and instruction; address poor performance; and ensure timely execution of program. 
    • Communicate and lead internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain responsiveness, credibility and understanding of survey activities and results.

    Occasional travel - Up to 7% of Domestic travel may be required with this position.
