As a Life Cycle Logistics Management Learning Director, you will apply your knowledge, experience in educational development, training of defense acquisition workforce, and research and analysis of defense acquisition policy issues. The duties of this position on a daily/weekly basis will include:


1. Leverages Life Cycle Logistics knowledge and experience developing, implementing, and/or managing effective DoD weapons system product support strategies to perform as a "thinking partner" and consultant with DoD acquisition and sustainment customers and students
2. Continuously improves product and service delivery to provide the right knowledge and skills at the point of need through mission assistance, workshops, classroom offerings and on-line resources.
3. Proposes, develops, validates, and manages currency, quality, and competency alignment of DAU Life Cycle Logistics career field and associated interdisciplinary learning assets,
4. Leads geographically dispersed government and contractor teams in development, and maintenance of instructor-led classroom and computer-based on-line learning assets
5. Develops and conducts presentations/briefings, case studies, simulations and workshops.
6. Teaches and facilitates higher levels of adult learning for the DoD acquisition workforce, including leading and facilitating student discussion, problem solving, and critical thinking.
7. Leverages product support management expertise to develop and maintain workflow learning assets including communities-of-practice, ACQuipedia articles, job support tools, guidebooks, and related media
8. Provides consulting and mission assistance to defense program office and sustainment teams, and defense acquisition workforce members.
9 Supports senior internal and external senior DoD stakeholders on Life Cycle Logistics policy and process initiatives.
10. Leverages interdisciplinary skills such as reliability, availability, maintainability, and supportability analysis, configuration management, performance based logistics, technical data/product data management, software life cycle management, maintenance planning, intellectual property, supply chain management, and/or product support funding to integrate life cycle logistics learning assets with other acquisition communities
11. Leads diverse teams to successfully plan, budget for, and execute complex learning asset/ curriculum development projects

Qualifications

You must have specialized experience directly relating to the specific duties of the position, and demonstrate that you have the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully.

1. Foundational Learning (Learning Asset Development and Teaching): Ability (or potential) to develop, manage, assess and deliver learning assets for the Life Cycle Logistics career field, ensuring currency, quality, and competency alignment. This includes activities and ability to: propose, write, validate, manage and maintain quality Life Cycle Logistics courseware including post-level III executive-level learning assets; align and integrate life cycle logistics learning assets with other functional communities; manage and maintain case studies to depict realistic DoD sustainment and readiness challenges; develop, align Terminal Learning Objectives (TLOs), Enabling Learning Objectives (ELOs), and assessment rubrics to career field competencies;; conduct research on systems acquisition, life cycle management, product support, and leadership; assess the health of learning assets, as well as guide future curriculum development and maintenance requirements; identify, develop, validate and maintain Life Cycle Logistics support tools to support and enhance learning assets; integrate lessons learned from mission assistance activities into learning assets; communicate (orally and in writing) complex managerial and technical material to students teach and facilitate higher levels of learning (including at executive level) for the defense acquisition workforce; motivate learners to participate actively in the learning process; organize information; , leading diverse, interdisciplinary teams, including successfully planning, budgeting, and executing complex curriculum development projects.

2. Performance Learning (Consulting): Ability to consult with DoD clients at various levels of authority from mid-grade to general officers/SES, across the system life cycle including guiding life cycle logistics, product support and sustainment strategy development, implementation, and execution. This includes responding to defense acquisition workforce queries and support requests, providing consulting/mission assistance related to diagnosis, goal setting, problem solving and decision-making; communicate effectively with large groups, including senior stakeholders and customers across DoD, providing presentations at conferences, symposia, and team meetings, strategy sessions, and other related public forums; planning and successfully executing acquisition, product support/sustainment and life cycle management-related mission assistance for DoD acquisition and sustainment organizations; providing technical guidance and assistance on complex product support matters across the spectrum of the Life Cycle Logistics competencies; and leveraging subject matter expertise and leadership skills to support senior DoD and DAU stakeholders on a range of life cycle logistics related technical policy and process issues and initiatives.

3. Workflow Learning Asset Management: Ability to develop and manage on-line/web-based workflow learning assets, tools, and resources. This ability must include the continuous assessment, currency, and quality of these learning assets. Describe any experience with development, delivery, currency, and maintenance of computer-based workflow learning assets including communities-of-practice, functional community workspaces, timely responses to student ask-a-professor inquiries, ACQuipedia articles, job support tools, guidebooks, videos, podcasts, websites, webinars, and curriculum support media.

Serves as a Learning Director and Professor of Life Cycle Logistics Management with experience in the Department of Defense (DoD) or a non-DoD agency. Applies knowledge, experience, and technical skills to teach and facilitate higher levels of learning for the Department of Defense acquisition workforce. This requires an in-depth knowledge of planning, strategy development, assessment and execution of DoD life cycle logistics, product support, and sustainment management, technical data management, supply chain and maintenance management, and supportability analyses for DoD weapons systems during the acquisition and operational phases of a system's life cycle.

  • You must have achieved DAWIA Level III certification in Life Cycle Logistics or alternatively, you must have the ability to obtain the required certification for the position within 24 months of appointment.
  • If selected for this position, you are subject to the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
  • You will be required to become a member of the Acquisition Corps. DoD instruction 5000.58R specifies qualification standards for Corps membership (waiver of some of these standards is in the limited possible circumstances described in the instruction).
  • You will be required to join the DAU Faculty Plan as established by Title 10 of the US Code. This position is in the excepted service (non-career). Candidates currently in the competitive service will be required to sign a statement indicating that they are leaving the competitive services voluntarily to accept an appointment in the excepted service.
  • Initial appointment is made for a period of four years, conditional upon satisfactory completion of a DAU probationary period of one year. Every year, as part of an annual review, consideration is given to extending the appointment; thus, service at DAU can be extended indefinitely.

Pay Band A: Minimum Prerequisites
You must possess a Bachelor's Degree and have at least 4 years of experience in the appropriate functional area in either government or industry.

Pay Band B: Minimum Prerequisites
You must possess a Master's Degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and at least 6 years of experience in the appropriate functional area in either a government or industry position.

Pay Band C: Minimum Prerequisites
You must possess a Master's Degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and at least 8 years of experience in the appropriate functional area in either a government or industry position.
