The Food Service Worker serves as a food service provider helping in the preparation, presentation and the serving of light food items offered for sale to patrons.
Works behind the counter and sets up and/or replenishes food and hot/cold drink and specialty items, and the associated condiments, for a food service snack bar operation. Prepares food displays in counter cases and other display units.
Weighs, or apportions the selected foods on plates, trays and/ or bags. Receive guest orders, answer customer questions about offered food. Advises guest when order is ready and delivers requested order.
May prepare sandwiches and serve a variety of hot and cold menu items.
May assist higher graded employee in the preparation of a variety of simple food items requiring minimal preparation using a deep fryer, hot dog roller, grill, and pizza oven such as hot dogs, hamburger, pizza, nachos, various drop and serve food.
Performs a variety of duties incident to the maintenance, cleanliness, and sanitation of the area to which assigned. Inspect and cleans counters and trays, outside tables for diners, washes utensils, and maintains cleanliness of the work area.
Sends/receives pans and utensils to/from the kitchen for the required cleaning and sanitation. Orders and/or aids in loading/unloading, stocking, transporting items and supplies as necessary.

Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position
A one year probationary period may be required
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
Completed and signed DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty
Successful completion of pre-employment physical and background check.
Must be able and willing to work and irregular schedule, to include evenings, weekends on holidays, depending on the organization's needs.
Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-15j(1) to include a medical examination.
Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
Qualifications
Experience or training that indicates sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position consistent with acceptable practices of the trade including but not limited to:
1. Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
2. Ability to keep things neat, clean, and in order.
3. Possess basic food preparation and handling techniques.
4. Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
5. Knowledge of basic sanitation principles.
6. Ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.
7. Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals in order to takes orders and provide change; and determine the number of portions required.
