    This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Government Publishing Office in Washington , District of Columbia .

    The selectee will work shift 1 Monday - Friday and a tour of duty 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

    Responsibilities

    As a Senior Auditor Senior Auditor, your typical work assignments may include the following:

    • Plans complex oversight activities of major GPO programs, projects, and contractor operations in accordance with professional audit standards and/or other appropriate evaluative standards.
    • Ensures that audit and oversight programs and procedures are technically sound. Develops or modifies objectives, work plans, guidelines, scope, analytical methods,staff requirements and time schedules to meet project needs.
    • Advises and assist the Supervisory Auditor in developing and recommending audit and other oversight policies, procedures, and innovative approaches based on technical expertise and operating experience.
    • Conducts, organizes, coordinates, and control complex audits and other reviews of major GPO programs, project,s and contractor operations. Identifies, coordinates, and manages audit or inspections work with third party contractors as may be necessary. Ensures that GPO OIG products and services evaluate the adequacy of management controls, and determines whether programs and operations are effectively, efficiently, and economically managed.
    • Assists in identifying oversight issues based on research of Agency budgets, Congressional testimony, agency reports, press releases, external reports, and other sources of information
    • Prepares summaries of findings and activities for inclusion in the IG's semiannual reports to Congress.
    • Plans and executes a comprehensive audit of management controls.
    • Plans and executes effective interviews of all levels of government and private sector officials.
    • Plans and assists in planning the work to be accomplished by subordinates, set priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
    • Performs extensive probing and analysis to determine best possible outcome of audit.
    • Ensures that all individual oversight efforts are performed effectively according to generally accepted government auditing and other applicable standards.
    • Assists in the decisions of the oversight activities, projects, and contractor operations to ensure that GPO is in favorable standings with the outcome.
