Duties

Help
  • Provide technical, expert analysis and advice on all congressional affairs impacting the Army Futures Command (AFC).
  • Develops strategy and programs for improving and maintaining strong relationships with Congress and fostering and maintaining positive liaison and sustained state and local governmental support for Army programs and resources.
  • Advises the Commanding General, Deputy Commanding Generals, Chief of Staff and appropriate staff/command elements on congressional aspects of policies, plans and programs, as well as, preparing AFC leadership for testimony before Congress.
  • Directs appropriate responses to congressional inquiries concerning AFC programs and operations.
  • Maintains liaison with and represents AFC on matters of congressional interest, inquiry and investigation at Department of Army (DA) and Department of Defense (DoD) levels and aids in hearings of congressional bodies.
  • Synthesizes data from diverse sources, analyzes trends and evaluates legislation and other program directives, in order to formulate the AFC legislative plan of action.
  • Analyzes AFC programs, plans and current problems to determine specific areas of congressional interest, inquiry or investigation.
  • Represent the AFC Commander and the Command at high-level conferences and meetings on matters pertaining to assigned mission and programs, as related to congressional and legislative affairs.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Preparing recommendations for legislation; evaluating the content of new or modified legislation for impact on agency or organizational programs and resources; and advising organizational leadership on congressional matters and policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Education
